The long-running form backend, now with a rules engine
Free + from $15/mo
saveto.app is building a product in this category. Nothing on this page is paid placem-nt, and nothing is ranked by it - the ordering rule is the same one every ot-er list here uses.
Formspree is the oldest name in this part of the directory and still the most corporate: a form backend that takes a post from your own HTML, filters it, stores it, and emails you the result. Beyond the basics it adds file uploads - up to ten files of 25MB each per submission, delivered as links rather than attachments - a plugin system for extending what happens after a submission, autoresponses, a rules engine for conditional handling, and custom email domains and templates so submission mail looks like it came from you. It is also the only tool on this page carrying a SOC 2 Type 2 audit, which matters if the form collects anything a compliance team will ask about. The trade is price: the free tier is explicitly for testing and development at 50 submissions a month, and real use starts at a subscription.
Email inbox and dashboard archive · Plugins and API (paid tiers)
The free tier is capped at 50 submissions a month with a 30-day archive, and is described by Formspree itself as being for testing and development. Paid plans are $15/mo for Personal (200 submissions), $30/mo for Professional (2,000, plus premium plugins, autoresponses and API access) and $90/mo for Business (20,000, plus custom email templates and the rules engine). Annual billing cuts those to $10, $20 and $60 a month. Custom pricing covers higher volume.
Teams who need a form backend that will survive a security review - SOC 2 Type 2, custom email domains, a rules engine - and can absorb a subscription. Overkill and overpriced for a personal site's contact form.
There is a free tier, but at 50 submissions a month with a 30-day archive it is meant for testing and development. Formspree says so on its own plans page. Any real form traffic pushes you onto a paid plan.
Personal is $15/mo for 200 submissions, Professional $30/mo for 2,000, and Business $90/mo for 20,000. Paying yearly drops those to $10, $20 and $60 a month respectively. Higher volume is quoted individually.
Yes, on paid plans: up to ten files per submission, each up to 25MB. They are stored remotely and arrive in your notification email as links rather than attachments, so large uploads do not break mail delivery.
It is the best-positioned option here for that conversation - it holds a SOC 2 Type 2 audit and publishes its security practices. It is US-based and relies on standard contractual clauses for EU transfers, so check that against your own requirements.
